Flames Travel to Purdue Fort Wayne for Three-Game Series

UIC and Mastodons will play three games April 29-May 1

CHICAGO -- The UIC baseball team hits the road for a three-game series this weekend at Purdue Fort Wayne. Action will get underway on Friday at 2 p.m. before continuing with games at 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. (all times CT) Saturday and Sunday.

FIRST PITCH
• The Flames are one of the hottest teams in the Horizon League, having won seven of their last nine games. During UIC's winning streak, the Flames picked up a 9-6 victory over Big Ten Foe Purdue.
• UIC has excelled at laying down the sacrifice bunts, ranking first in the Horizon League and ninth nationally with 30 on the season.

FLAMES HEAT UP
• UIC has started to heat up, having won seven of its last nine games.
• The Flames took  2-of-3 from Oakland, winning the final two games of the series, before winning 2-of-3 against Wright State and a single game against Purdue. Last weekend, the Flames picked up a doubleheaer sweep over Milwaukee before falling to Wright State to end the weekend.
• Rayth Petersen is hitting .400 during the stretch while Cole Conn has a .378 batting average over the last nine game.

CONN NAMED #HLBASE BATTER OF THE WEEK
• UIC's Cole Conn has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week, the League office announced Tuesday (April 26). The award, the first in Conn's career, comes following a big week at plate for the Flames, helping the team to a 3-1 record.
 • Conn finished the week with a .529 batting average, .579 on base percentage and a .882 slugging percentage. The backstop led the team in hits (9), doubles (3) and RBI (7) while hitting his team-leading fifth home run of the season.
 • Conn had a career-day against Wright State on Sunday, setting a new career-high in hits after finishing 5-for-6 at the plate. Conn drove in a team-high four runs in the contest, including a two-run blast to left in the third inning. Conn had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games this week.
