FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Behind a dominating outing by
Tyler Ingram, the UIC baseball team picked up a 4-2 win over Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the three-game series.

Following an hour rain delay, Ingram was tested in the bottom of the first as the Mastodons had the bases loaded with one away. Purdue Fort Wayne scored a run on a sacrifice fly but Ingram limited the damage to just one run.

UIC evened the score at 1-all after
Bobby Grimes, who walked and sole second, scored on the RBI single by
Bryan Rosario. Back-to-back base hits by the Flames put UIC in front by a 3-1 margin.
Sean Dee walked to open the inning and moved to second on the sacrifice bunt.
Ryan Lin-Peistrup doubled him home and came around to score on Rosario's second RBI single of the day.

The Flames picked up an insurance run in the sixth behind three consecutive hits.
Cole Conn singled with one out, moved to second on
Ryan Nagelbach's single and scored on
Joshua Figueroa's single to left.

Purdue Fort Wayne threatened in the eighth after scoring an unearned run to make it 4-2. Ingram limited the damage once again to just one run as back-to-back strikeouts ended the inning.
Tanner Shears came on in the ninth and worked around a pair of base runners to pick up his team-leading seventh save of the season.

Ingram finished his day with eight innings pitched, allowing just two runs (one earned) while scattering four hits and a pair of walks to go along with seven strikeouts.

The Flames look for the series sweep on Sunday with the final game of the series. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. (CT).
