VALPARAISO, Ind. – The UIC track and field team brought home six individual titles at the final meet before the conference championship as the Flames competed at the Valparaiso Invitational.

"Today was a great tune up for us," said head coach
Ashley Lucas. "We walked away with a lot of event wins and PRs and even added some more people to our Top 10 lists. We are sharpening up well heading into conference and look forward to our trip to Oakland next week."

UIC swept the men's and women's 800m, as Teresa Mejia claimed the women's title with a time of 2:17.63. In the men's race,
Tre Rivers crossed the line first in 1:53.45 while
Owen Hassler claimed seventh with a time of 2:02.66.

The Flames also swept the individual titles in the 400m races with
Trevor Tousana (49.96) and Bailey Moran (57.56) won the men's and women's races, respectively. Lia Skoufos (1:00.22) and Brooke Klatkiewicz (1:01.99) finished second and fourth, respectively, in the women's event.

Haley Dahl captured the women's 400m hurdles title when she posted a time of 1:10.66.

Teresa Mejia claimed the final individual title when she won the women's 1500m with a time of 4:38.42. Rosie Campbell-Watt finished sixth (4:58.44) and Taylor Frommer (5:00.13) claimed seventh in the event.

Natalie Kowalzcuk finished on the podium in the women's 200m, finishing second overall with a time of 26.07. Cassie Ogburn also finished runner-up in her respective event, crossing the line in 19:47.84 I the women's 5000m. Rylee Fee finished just behind Ogburn in the event, posting a time of 19:53.68 to finish third.

Sacrad Michelin was the top Flames finisher in the men's 100m, crossing in 10.72 to claim third overall in the event.
Max Rivera was fifth with a time of 10.82. In the women's 100m, Kaitlynn Rogers finished fourth (12.57) while Natalie Kowalzcuk was sixth (12.90).

UIC heads to the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Oakland University, May 6-8.
