CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The UIC men's and women's track and field programs set 10 new personal best times Saturday (April 9) as the Flames competed at the Illini Classic.

"We walked away today with 10 PRs, new additions to the Top 10 lists and two close school records in men's and women's 4x100 relays," said head coach
Ashley Lucas. "I'm proud of how the team competed."

The men's 4x100 relay team took home the event title as
Max Rivera,
Austin Beckon and
Sacrad Michelin and
Juan Maniog finished with a time of 41.59. The women's relay squad finished third overall, with Kaitlynn Rogers, Olivia Dumas, Natalie Kowalczuk and Aiyanna Hilton teaming up to finish at 48.46.

The Flames placed three in the top five of the men's 100m sprint, with
Max Rivera finishing runner-up with a time of 10.95 seconds. He was joined in the top-5 by
Dalton Burke (4
th – 11.00) and
Sacrad Michelin (5
th – 11.09).

Four of UIC's 10 PRs came in the men's and women's 1500m races. All four Flames who competed in the women's race set new PRs, as Daniela Martinez (4:53.46), Safiya Ratliff (5:06.77), Lia Skofous (5:11.52) and Rylee Fee (5:15.83) all improved upon their previous bests in the event. On the men's side,
Owen Hassler set a new PR with a finishing time of 4:14.51.

Three more PRs were set in the 5000m races, as Rosie Campbell-Watt (17:59.87),
Maxum Caesar (15:13.48) and
Luke Malone (15:38.73) all running stellar races.

Haley Dahl posted a PR in the women's 400m hurdles, finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:12.81. In the women's steeplechase, Cailyn Persinger set a PR with a time of 11:55.93 to finish fourth in the event.

Three more Flames posted top-10 finishes in their respective events. Bailey Moran finished sixth in the women's 400m (57.75), Skoufos finished fifth in the women's 800m (2:20.47) and
Will Stout placed fifth overall in the men's 400m hurdles (58.91).

UIC will be back in action April 14-16 as the Flames will spread out across four different meets, including three in California.
