Three UIC divers earned Scholar All-American Second Team honors, as selected by the Collegiate Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).  Cydney Liebenberg, Felix Lafortune, and Ciara McCliment each were recognized for their achievements in the classroom.

Liebenberg capped her Flames career this season by becoming the first four-time 3-meter Horizon League champion, and the conference's first-ever four-time Athlete of the Meet, at the conference championships.  She qualified for the NCAA Zone meet for the fifth time, and was less than six points away from qualifying for nationals in 1-meter competition.  She was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team.  This is her third Scholar All-America award, having won Honorable Mention status in 2018 and 2019.

Lafortune captured his third Diver of the Meet award at the Horizon League Championships, taking first place on the 3-meter board and second on the 1-meter board.  It was his third straight 3-meter title.  An NCAA Zone qualifier for the fourth straight year, Lafortune made the final round in the 1-meter competition.  He earned conference All-Academic accolades as well.

McCliment qualified for finals on both boards at the Horizon League Championships her freshman season.  She finished fifth overall in each event.  She posted Zone cut scores on both boards and competed in her first Zone meet this spring.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.

CSCAA named the Flames' men's and women's teams to the Scholar All-American ranks last week.  Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
