UIC's two-match, weekend home stand will conclude against Eastern Illinois on Sunday afternoon. Admission to Flames Field is free, and the match will start at 1 p.m.
The Flames outplayed DePaul for long stretches in their last match, but the Blue Demons scored the only goal of the match. Jazzy Ellis had a shot hit the post, and Madison Ferris and Hannah Gryzik each had an attempt from close range saved.
Gryzik took over the team lead in shots when she fired off five against DePaul, including four on goal. She is the only Flame to have multiple shots on goal through two matches. She is one of two freshmen to appear in the starting lineup in each match so far.
This is the first meeting between the in-state rivals. Eastern Illinois is one of eight first-time opponents on the Flames' 2022 schedule.
EIU has not allowed a goal this season. They have played two Valley squads – Valparaiso and Indiana State – and battled both to a scoreless draw. The Panthers defeated Purdue Fort Wayne, 2-0. Jenna Little had a brace in that match. Daniela Bormeo has saved all 14 shots that have come her way.
Live coverage of the match will be on ESPN+.
