UIC will look to take the momentum they have built over their last two games into their next match Thursday night, when they visit Marquette. The Flames have dominated possession and quality scoring chances their last two outings against DePaul and Eastern Illinois, and earned a result with a draw against the Panthers, but will search for their first win of the season against the Golden Eagles.
Lauren Keiser shut out Eastern Illinois on three saves in UIC's last match. She is one of only 23 goalkeepers nationwide who has yet to allow a goal this season. Keiser has started two of the three matches to date, and became the Flames' first keeper to play an entire match when she went the distance against EIU.
Hannah Gryzik, one of two freshmen to have started each match, leads the team in shots (7) and shots on goal (6).
Jelena Zbiljic is just one shot behind her, and
Kaitlyn Montague has made the most of her opportunities, putting three-of-three shots on goal.
This is the second all-time meeting between the teams. Marquette edged UIC last season, 1-0. The Eagles enter play with a 1-2-0 record. Their lone win was against Central Michigan, a team that UIC also defeated in the preseason. Mikki Easter has been their full-time keeper, allowing five goals in three matches on a .667 save percentage.
