Valley Road Trip Continues at Belmont

Flames Face Bruins Thursday Night

9/28/2022 4:41:00 PM

UIC's season-long three game road trip will continue Thursday in Nashville, when the Flames face Belmont.

Both teams are in the thick of the race for a spot in the upper half of the Valley table.  Belmont (1-1-1, 4 points in conference play) and UIC (1-1-0, 3 points) are two of four teams separated by just a point in the fourth through seventh positions.  The Flames will look to get back in the win column after dropping a match to Valparaiso last week.

UIC is third in the league in shots per game, but has struggled turning those shots into goals.  Kaitlyn Montague leads the team in all shot categories and ranks in the top six individuals in the Valley in both shots and shots on goal per game.

Belmont has the stingiest defense in the Valley.  They allow 0.7 goals per game, have five shutouts, and save 88% of the shots that go on net – all of which lead the conference.  The Bruins are also seeking to avoid a two-match losing streak.

The teams have met twice.  They played to a 0-0 draw in 2016 in Chicago, and Belmont posted a 3-0 win in 2017 at Rose Park.

Thursday's match will start at 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
