PEORIA, Ill. (Oct. 22, 2023) – The UIC men's soccer team (8-4-3, 3-2-2 MVC) rounded out its road regular season schedule Sunday, as it traveled to Bradley (5-4-6, 1-4-1 MVC) for an afternoon contest at the Braves' Shea Stadium.
Â
FIRST HALF
- The Flames got off to a slow start for the second consecutive match Sunday, as they surrendered the first goal of the match to the Braves in the 16th minute on a right footed strike in the box from Bradley's Claudel Ngongang.
- UIC did not wait long to equalize, as just six minutes later, Jesus De Vicente (Casas Bajas, Spain/Iowa Western CC) tallied his third goal of the year, the beneficiary of a fortunate bounce off a Braves defender to level the match at 1-1. Darrell Turcios (Independence, Ky.) tallied his first point of the season as the lone assist on the De Vicente equalizer.
- The Braves would out-shoot UIC 7-4 in the first 45 minutes, but the two sides would enter the locker room level at 1-1.

Â
SECOND HALF
- The second half started as a much more defensive affair, as each side registered just one shot in the first 30 minutes of the second frame.
- The match as a whole was extremely physical, with each side committing 15 fouls by the 77th minute.
- The two sides ended the match with just two shots a piece in the second half, and the two would play to a 1-1 draw. With the draw, the Flames remain in third place in The Valley standings.
