CHICAGO (Oct. 27, 2023) – The No. 4 UIC women's soccer team starts its quest for the Missouri Valley Conference crown Sunday afternoon, as the Flames host No. 5 Murray State in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship at Flames Field.

Sophia Jaime (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) propelled the UIC women's soccer team past Valparaiso, securing the No. 4 seed in the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship. Jaime, who was recently named the MVC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time, found her stride at the end of the regular season for UIC, scoring three goals in the Flames' last two matches. Jaime currently leads the team in several statistical categories, including goals (four), points (12), shots (32) and shots on goal (21).
SCOUTING MURRAY STATE
No. 5 Murray State is coming off a 1-0 opening round victory against No. 8 Evansville. The Racers got on the board 38 seconds into the match off a Mary Hardy goal and were able to hold off the Purple Aces for the final 89 minutes of the match. Goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio made six saves in Thursday's contest, earning her fifth clean sheet of the 2023 campaign.

MVC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY FOR UIC
This is the second year in a row UIC has hosted a MVC women's soccer quarterfinal match at Flames Field. Last season, the Flames hosted Northern Iowa, falling to the Panthers in a shootout.
WIN AND ADVANCE
The winner of Sunday's contest will take on No. 1 Drake in the conference semifinals. Both semifinal matches along with Sunday's championship match will be held at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sunday's match is scheduled to kick off at noon at Flames Field. Fans will have the opportunity to stream the event on ESPN+, while live stats will be available on the Flames' website.
