CHICAGO (Oct. 4, 2023) – The UIC women's soccer team (4-6-2, 3-2 MVC) is set to travel to Indiana State (1-5-6, 0-3-1 MVC) for a matchup against the Sycamores on Thursday. This will mark the Flames' first road contest since facing Northern Iowa on Sept. 21.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flames had been riding a two-match winning streak before facing the defending Missouri Valley Conference champions, Missouri State, Sunday at Flames Field. Despite creating several scoring opportunities, the Flames were unable to find the net against the Bears, as Missouri State came away with the 3-0 victory.
Redshirt junior
Lauren Keiser (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./South Walton) made her return in net for the Flames against the Bears. Keiser had not played since the season-opening match against Toledo on Aug. 17.
SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
The Sycamores are still in search of their first MVC win of the season, having recently suffered a 2-0 loss this past Sunday against Northern Iowa. Indiana State opened the conference slate with a draw against Belmont and losses to Valparaiso, Drake and UNI. The team is looking to break one of the longest scoreless streaks in program history, as Indiana State has failed to score in each of its last four matches.
Junior Maddie Helling leads the Sycamores in goals this season (2).
The Flames and Sycamores have met three times on the pitch, with their first meeting taking place in 2017. Indiana State leads the series, with a 2-1 record against the Flames. However, UIC won the most recent matchup against Indiana State, coming away with a 1-0 victory against the Sycamores in 2022.
MATCH INFORMATION
The Thursday evening matchup against the Sycamores is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, Ind. Fans can stream the match on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on the Flames' website.
