Softball Concludes Competition at Fresno State Kickoff Classic

The Flames fell to Idaho State in Saturday doubleheader.

FRESNO, CALIF. - The UIC softball team (0-8) concluded its time at the Fresno State Kickoff Classic Saturday afternoon, falling to Idaho State (5-2) in a doubleheader, 8-0 and 10-3.

GAME ONE
  • Senior Jordyn Cebedo had a multi-hit game for the Flames. She hit a double to left center in the second and a single in the fifth.
  • Junior Anna Walker, senior Alannah Cran and sophomore Jojo Santiago hit singles for UIC.
  • Senior Carlee Jo Clark and junior Miranda Gomez pitched for the Flames. Clark threw 3.1 innings, striking out two, while Gomez pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
GAME TWO
  • The Flames got on the board in the fourth when sophomore Emma Crowley hit a sacrifice fly.
  • Freshman Jazmyn Casas hit her first career triple in the fourth inning as well.
  • In the fifth, senior Alannah Cran hit the Flames' second triple of the game, scoring sophomore Hailey Cowing. Cran scored on a wild pitch to give UIC its third run of the game.
  • Senior Christina Toniolo started in the circle for the Flames, throwing two strikeouts over two innings.
  • Clark pitched four innings in relief, striking out one and forcing eight fly outs.

The Flames are back on the diamond Friday, when they travel to Tampa Bay for the USF Invitational. The Flames will play five games over the three day event, including three games against teams currently ranked in the top 15 of the most recent USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll. UIC's first game of the invitational is against Michigan State (5-2), with first pitch scheduled for 9 a.m.
