MORAGA, CALIF. – The UIC baseball team closed out its four-game series with Saint Mary's on Sunday, looking to complete the four-game West Coast sweep.
Â
- After a two-RBI single from Saint Mary's Coleman Schmidt in the bottom of the first, the Flames would respond in the third inning, cutting the deficit in half as a Rayth Petersen fielder's choice allowed Carson Roberts to score on a Saint Mary's throwing error.
- Brandon Bak got the start on the mound for the Flames, going four complete innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits.
- The Gaels would rattle off six runs between the fourth and sixth innings to take an 8-1 lead, which would be the final score of the game.
- UIC mustered just four hits as a team, with Carson Roberts contributing two hits and a run scored to the cause.
Â
The Flames will return home this week before traveling to Nashville, Tenn. for their next series, beginning Friday against Lipscomb. The Flames and Bison will play a three-game series over three days, concluding Sunday Feb. 26.
