KALAMAZOO, MICH. – The UIC women's tennis team was back in action Saturday, as it traveled to Western Michigan to take on the Broncos. The Flames would earn a gutsy point in doubles competition, but would go on to fall in the match by a final score of 4-3.

After Natalia Nikolopolou and
Cora-Lynn von Dungern earned a 6-4 victory to open up doubles play, the Flames needed a victory in the final match of doubles to secure the point. The number one doubles pairing of
Agnes Gustafsson and
Ana Jover were the deciding match of doubles, and would win a tight match by the final score of 7-6, winning the tiebreak 7-3.

In singles competition, the Flames dropped the first three matches (numbers 6, 4, and 2), before
Agnes Gustafsson earned the first singles point for UIC with a straight set victory (6-2, 6-3). Natalia Niklopolou's match at the number three position was the final match to finish, as the graduate student earned a point for the Flames with a victory.

UIC will return to home action Friday, as it will host Toledo at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago. First serve against the Rockets is set for 11:00 a.m.
