Softball Finishes Day Two of Governors Classic in a Rainout

UIC's game against Austin Peay suspended due to rain Saturday night, will resume Sunday.

   CLARKSVILLE, TENN. -- After falling to Dayton (7-9) in the morning, UIC's game against Austin Peay (8-7) was suspended midway through the game Saturday night due to rain.

DAYTON
  • The Flames fell short in a pitchers' duel with the Flyers, 1-0.
  • Senior Carlee Jo Clark pitched the complete game for the Flames. She allowed only four hits, struck out three batters and only walked two.
  • Junior Emma Crowley opened the bottom of the third inning with a single down the left field line in just her ninth game she has started this season.
AUSTIN PEAY
  • Redshirt senior Maica Ingles started the game off for the Flames with a single in the top of the first inning, followed by stealing second base to get into scoring position.
  • After freshman Gianna Richy was hit by pitch, Ingles then scored on a base hit from sophomore Hailey Cowing to centerfield for the Flames first run in the game. She now leads the team with five RBIs on the season.
  • The Flames scored their second run in the inning when Clark flew out deep to the second baseman when Richy tagged up from third base. The Flames took an early 2-0 lead.
  • In her 10th start of the season, senior Christian Toniolo has thrown 3.1 innings in the circle for the Flames so far in the game. She has struck out two batters, allowed two hits and walked one.
  • This game is set to resume Sunday at 11:00 a.m. UIC's game against Dayton originally scheduled for 10 a.m. will now be played at 12:30 p.m.
