ROCHESTER, Mich. – UIC's women's tennis team (6-6) is heading back to Chicago with a 5-2 win against Oakland. The Flames and Grizz are no stranger to each other, as they've met many times over previous seasons as members of the Horizon League. UIC has won now won seven matches in a row against Oakland, and nine of the ten overall matches between the two programs.
The Flames lost the doubles point Saturday, but strong play of the singles lineup propelled UIC to a 5-2 win over Oakland. The team continued to dominate their singles opponents, winning all but one of their matches.

- Malazonia came out on the wrong end of a 4-6, 6-3 (2) final.
- Nikolopoulou's match was even at 3-3 in the third set when her opponent retired due to injury.
- Jover had no trouble beating out her opponent 6-4, 6-1.
- Von Dungern put the Flames back in the game with win at #2 (6-1, 6-2).
- Forste-Dinell gave UIC the lead with her 6-3, 6-2 win at #3 signles.
- Rodriguez came out on top, winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
MICHIGAN TOUR
Before playing Oakland on Saturday, UIC took on Eastern Michigan Friday, falling to the Eagles 4-0.
UP NEXT
The Flames will begin Missouri Valley Conference play Saturday against Drake. The contest will be UIC's first conference match as a member of the MVC. The Bulldogs hold a 7-4 on the season, losing only one game at home. The two squads have met three times before in non-conference matches, the most recent in 2010. The Flames are 1-2 all-time against Drake.
