Four-Game Week on Tap for UIC Baseball

Flames Face Milwaukee at Home Before Traveling to SIUE

CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team will round out its home-stand Tuesday, as it hosts Milwaukee before returning to the road for its final non-conference weekend series against SIU-Edwardsville. The Flames will put their 1-0 home record on the line Tuesday after knocking off Northwestern out of the Big Ten at Curtis Granderson Stadium on March 7.
 
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
  • Former Horizon League foes UIC and Milwaukee will square off Tuesday for the 159th time in series history.
  • The Panthers enter the week with a 7-6 overall record, having lost four of their last five, including losing two of three against fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Murray State.
  • Offensively, Milwaukee scores just over four runs per game, paced by team batting average leader Aaron Chapman (.343) who has 12 hits in 35 at bats.
  • Luke Hansel has had a great beginning to the season on the mound, posting a 3-0 record in four starts.
 
SCOUTING SIU-EDWARDSVILLE
  • The Cougars and Flames will meet for the fourth time in series history this weekend, with SIUE getting the best of UIC in the prior three matchups.
  • SIUE has faced three Missouri Valley opponents this season, boasting a 3-2 record against Illinois State, Southern Illinois, and Missouri State.
  • The Cougars average 5.1 runs per game, and enter the week with a 10-4 record with a mid-week game against Fontbonne before the Flames come to town.
  • Jake Bockenstedt leads the way for the Cougars on the mound, posting a 1.82 ERA in four starts.
 
FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames are back in action after a week off due to a series cancelation against St. Thomas last weekend.
  • AJ Henkle has led the way offensively for UIC this year, sporting a .344 batting average which ranks 12th in the Missouri Valley.
  • Defensively, the Flames rank 8th in all of Division I baseball in fielding percentage, with a .986 fielding percentage. UIC has made just five errors in 367 chances.
  • On the mound, the Flames have done a lot of pitching by committee, with Kade Lancour leading the way sporting a 2-1 record in four start
