CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (9-7, 3-1 MVC) defeated Murray State 5-2 in a Friday morning contest at the XS Tennis Village. The victory is the Flames' third in a row.
After playing on the road for more than a month, UIC returned home to take on the Racers in Friday's match. The Flames are now 4-1 while playing in Chicago.

- Tamara Malazonia set the tone with a solid performance over Emma Honore 6-4, 6-1.
- At the No. 1 singles court, Agnes Gustafsson proved why she's the Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week. She beat Sarah Bureau 6-4, 6-2, to continue her own 3-match win streak at singles.
- Natalie Slezakova kept the Racers in the match by defeating UIC's Ana Jover. Jover fell 6-4 in both sets.
- However, at the next court over, Cora-Lynn von Dungern kept applying pressure to the Racers, clinching the win for the Flames. She battled back after dropping the first set 6-4, eventually dominating the rest 6-1, 6-0.
- At No. 3 singles, Natalie Nikolopoulou went into a super-breaker, coming out victorious over Annika Pschorr 3-6, 7-6, 10-6.
- UIC's sixth position, Lea Forste-Dinell lost in a super-breaker against Paola Campigotto 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.

The home court advantage won't last long, as the Flames head to Nashville to take on MVC member Belmont Sunday. The match begins at 10 a.m. at the Beaman Family Tennis Complex.
