NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The UIC women's tennis team (9-8, 3-2 MVC) played a tough contest Sunday morning against Belmont, eventually losing 4-3. The match started with the Bruins in the lead after winning the doubles point, but the Flames fought back until the end.
DOUBLES:
SINGLES:
- Tamara Malazonia dropped her match at singles No. 2, 6-1 both sets.
- Ana Jover kept the Flames in the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
- A dominating 7-5, 6-1 win from Natalia Nikolopoulou brought hope to UIC, tying up the score 2-2. With a 5-0 record, Nikolopoulou remains undefeated at the No. 3 position in MVC matches.
- Agnes Gustafsson came out strong at No. 1 singles, winning the first set 6-1. Her opponent went on to win the other two 6-0, 6-2.
- At No. 5 singles, Meredith Roberts outscored Cora-Lynn von Dungern 6-3, 6-4, clinching the match for Belmont.
- Paula Rodriguez Gregoris was able to get a win for Flames at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-4. Her efforts wouldn't be enough to claim the win.

The Flames return home at their outdoor courts on Friday, April 7 to play Illinois State at 11 a.m. They'll play Bradley the next day at 8 a.m. at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts, weather permitting.
