Swimming & Diving Team Announce Annual Award Winners

The Program Held Its Awards Banquet Sunday

CHICAGO - The UIC swimming and diving program announced its annual award winners at its team banquet held Sunday.

Poleena Kovalaske, Taira Juronis, Liam Davis and Jeff Wiedoff were named Most Valuable Swimmer, while Ciara McCliment and Cole Tremewan won Most Valuable Diver. Kerry-Leigh Morrison and Bruno Carrillo received the Newcomer of the Year awards. The Most Improved Swimmer awards went to Bella Del Rosario and Aiden Foley and the Most Improved Diver awards were given to Kathryn Kleczka and Hunter Trautmann.

Kathryn Kleczka and Reid Richardson won the Sam Kooistra Scholarship Award, while Cole Tremewan and Kalie Landrum received the Bill Mulliken Scholarship Award.

The Flames had a strong 2022-23 campaign, competing for the first time as members of the Missouri Valley Conference on the women's side and the Mid-American Conference on the men's. UIC diver Cole Tremewan was named the MAC Outstanding Diver, while Kerry-Leigh Morrision was recognized as the MVC Freshman Diver of the Meet. Diving head coach Susan Bromberg was named the Diving Coach of the Year by both the MAC and the MVC.

Other MAC and MVC all-conference honorees included Poleena Kovalaske (MVC, First Team), Ciara McCliment (MVC, First Team), Liam Davis (MAC, Second Team), Madison Helmick (MVC, Honorable Mention), Taira Juronis (MVC, Honorable Mention), Kalie Landrum (MVC, Honorable Mention), Ciara McCliment(MVC, Honorable Mention), Kerry-Leigh Morrison (MVC, Honorable Mention) and Victoria Thor (MVC, Honorable Mention).
