Flames Prep for Sunday Rubber Match with Racers

MURRAY, Ky. – The UIC baseball team continued its three-game series against Murray State Saturday afternoon, as the two met for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.

  • The Flames opened the scoring at Johnny Reagan Field Saturday, as Ryan Nagelbach reached on an error by the Racers second baseman, bringing home Carson Roberts to put UIC ahead 1-0.
  • Roberts helped the Flames double the lead in the second inning, as his sacrifice fly brought home Breck Nowik and made the score 2-0 in favor of UIC.
  • After Charlie Szykowny scored after a Nagelbach steal of second base, the Flames would hold the 3-0 lead until the sixth inning.
  • The Racers came back to score four runs in the home half of the sixth inning, taking a one run lead at 4-3.
  • After Breck Nowik tied the game in the top of the eighth at 4-4 with an RBI single, the Racers re-captured the lead in the home half of the eighth with a two-RBI triple that would prove to be the difference in the game, as the Flames dropped game two of the series by a 6-4 final score.

The two teams will close out the three-game series on Sunday afternoon, as the get-away day first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT. Live stats are available at UICFlames.com.
