Softball Concludes Three-Game Series Against Belmont Saturday Afternoon

The Flames tally five hits but fall to the Bruins, 9-2

CHICAGO — The UIC softball team couldn't fend off Belmont in its concluding game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon, 9-2.

  • After redshirt senior Maica Ingles got on base with an infield single, she was later scored by sophomore Hailey Cowing in a groundout. Cowing now has eight RBIs in the season.
  • Junior Anna Walker hit a line shot to left field for single in the middle of the game, for her third hit in the past two days.
  •  A pinch-hitting Larissa Ortiz was feet away from clearing the left field wall in her lone at bat that ended as a single. This was the first hit for the sophomore since the game against #22 Northwestern on Mar. 21.
  • Senior Carlee Jo Clark poked a single past the pitching circle to score junior Dee Dee Caskey for the Flames second run of the game. Alongside Cowing, Clark co-leads the team with eight RBIs on the season.
  • Sophomore Grace Fleming earned her ninth hit of the season, going 1-for-3 in the game.
