CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its All-Tournament Team Saturday afternoon. Among those named was UIC's
Hailey Cowing.
In the Flames' 2-0 loss to Southern Illinois in the opening round Wednesday evening, Cowing shined defensively. She began the bottom of the first with a sliding grab for the first out of game for the Flames.
Then, in the bottom of the fifth, the Salukis Tori Schullian stepped into the batters' box with a runner on first. Hitting the ball to right field, Cowing fielded it cleanly as the runner began to round second base, heading to third. Cowing rifled the ball to freshman third baseman
Tess Altevers Harris, who tagged the runner out by multiple steps for the second out of the inning.
Offensively, Cowing went one-for-three in the game. She poked a single down the middle in the top of the sixth, which marked the Flames fourth and final hit of the game.
