First Half Flurry Propels Men’s Soccer Past St. Thomas

Flames score three first half goals in shutout victory over St. Thomas

CHICAGO – A three-goal offensive outburst in the first half set the tone for the UIC men's soccer team as the Flames dominated from start to finish in a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas in the team's second match of the season. With the victory, UIC moved to 2-0 in 2023.

COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH SEAN PHILLIPS

"It was a good result this afternoon. We had a positive start to the game after drawing a penalty and burying the penalty kick. With the game being 2-0, I was hoping we'd get a third goal to finish the half and we did. Credit to St. Thomas, they kept fighting and made it difficult for us. I think the team has great character and I would watch out for them as the season goes on."
