ST. LOUIS (Sept. 21, 2023) – The Missouri Valley Conference named women's golfer
Dasa Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic/Menlo College) its women's golfer of the week Thursday morning. The graduate student received the honor following her historic performance at the Brittany Kelly Classic where she won the individual title and set the program record for lowest round under par (-4) and lowest 54 hole total (211). Urbankova also tied her own record for the lowest round in program history (68) following her performance Tuesday.
Urbankova's victory this week was her first individual title at UIC. She is the seventh UIC golfer to capture an individual title and the first Flames golfer to win an individual title since
Megan Tang won the Briar Ridge Invitational in Sept. 2022.
This is the fifth time the MVC has named Urbankova its golfer of the week and the first since March 31. Urbankova received the honor this week alongside Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon, Missouri State's Hampus Wijkstrom and Belmont's Chloe Tarkany. Each won individual titles in their respective tournaments.
As a team, the Flames finished second at the Brittany Kelly Classic, shooting +25 (889). This was the program's first tournament under new head coach
Angela Rayhill.
The Flames head to Wolcott, Colo. for the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. The three-day event will take place at the Red Sky Golf Club from Sept. 25-27.
