CHICAGO (Sept. 22, 2023) – The UIC men's basketball team has learned the dates and matchups for its 2023-24 Missouri Valley Conference schedule, following an announcement by the conference office Friday morning.

Beginning their second season in the MVC, the Flames will play 10 home games and 10 road games as part of the 20-game conference slate, facing nine of the other 11 schools twice (home and away), with single games against the other two Valley opponents, coincidentally both coming in the final week of the regular season (home vs. Drake on Feb. 28; away at Missouri State on March 3).

Friday's announcement follows the earlier release of UIC's non-conference schedule. Start times for conference games and television coverage for all Flames' games will be released at a later date.

"We're really excited about year two in the Valley," said fourth-year head coach
Luke Yaklich. "Our coaching staff and players now have a great feel for the league, our opponents and road venues. Â We're eager to tip off the season and look forward to some great competition."

UIC will debut a talented roster in 2023-24, including nine new players and seven significant returners. A pair of starters — senior guard
Toby Okani (11.0 ppg., 7.1 rpg.) and junior forward
Filip Skobalj (7.7 ppg., team-high 61 three-pointers) — headline the returning Flames, while graduate student guard (and Chicago native)
Marquise Kennedy leads a dynamic incoming class that features six transfers.

Along with Friday's conference schedule, the Flames also announced they will open the season Oct. 31 with an exhibition game against Clayton State at Credit Union 1 Arena. After tipping off the regular season Nov. 6 at Cincinnati, UIC returns to Chicago for its home opener Nov. 10 against Little Rock.

Upon returning from the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship that will be played during Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 24-26) in the Bahamas, the Flames will start MVC action at home on Nov. 30, welcoming Illinois State to Credit Union 1 Arena. UIC then plays four consecutive non-conference games before beginning the balance of its conference schedule Dec. 30 with a trip to Southern Illinois.

The Valley schedule culminates March 7-10 with the 48
th edition of the State Farm MVC Tournament (aka "Arch Madness"), which will once again be played at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
