Women’s Soccer Takes on DePaul in Cross Town Matchup

The Flames will take on the Blue Demons Thursday

9/6/2023 12:56:00 PM

CHICAGO (Sept. 6, 2023) – The UIC women's soccer team (1-2-2) won't have to travel far for its next matchup as the team takes on DePaul (2-1-1) Thursday at Wish Field. The Chicagoland contest marks one of the last two nonconference games for the Flames in 2023.

In their recent match against Kansas City, the Flames engaged in a back-and-forth battle with the Roos, resulting in a 1-1 tie. Redshirt sophomore Madison Ferris scored her first collegiate goal in the match, while MVC Goalkeeper of the Week Sara Sanabria made two crucial saves to secure the draw. UIC's defense has been stout through its first five games of 2023 and hasn't allowed any opponent to score more than two goals in a match.

SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (2-1-1) enters their match against UIC with a victory over Eastern Kentucky, along with wins against Samford and a draw against Green Bay. The team's sole defeat came against No. 7 Alabama. Ellie Mink is currently the leading scorer for the Blue Demons, having netted three goals this season. The graduate student has recorded one goal in each of the last three matches, with a .500 shooting percentage.

UIC and DePaul have previously met twice in 2021 and 2022. The Flames are seeking their first victory over the BIG EAST team, having suffered defeats in both prior encounters.

MATCH INFORMATION
Thursday's match against the Blue Demons will begin at 4:00 p.m at Wish Field in Chicago. The contest will be streamed on FloSports and live stats will be available on the Flames' website.
