DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 17, 2024) — The UIC women's soccer team found itself locked into a scoreless draw early in the second half of its Missouri Valley Conference road game at Drake before the host Bulldogs scored twice to take the 2-0 win on Thursday afternoon at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Despite the result, the Flames (5-9-2, 4-2-2 MVC) keep their hold on second place in the conference standings with two games remaining in their regular season.
Sophomore forward
Camryn Ries (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) had a dangerous shot on goal from the left wing in the 76th minute during a windy, physical contest that saw both sides whistled for 14 fouls and combining for three yellow cards (two by Drake). Graduate student goalkeeper
Francesca Faraci (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South/Florida) made four saves, all in the first half including back-to-back diving stops, to keep UIC firmly in contention.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"Road games in the MVC are always a battle and we were challenged today," said UIC head coach
David Nikolic. "I felt that we organized ourselves well in the first half and created opportunities off of mistakes, but couldn't finish the final action. We have been dominant in creating set pieces in past games and today, we lacked an ability to create those."
