CHICAGO (Oct. 18, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (6-5, 2-2 MVC) returned home to Flames Field Friday night, as it welcomed Belmont (3-7-3, 0-4-1 MVC) for a showdown under the lights.
After a quiet first half with just one shot on goal combined for both teams, the Bruins took a lead early in the second frame on a headed goal in the 57
th minute. Despite some late chances on offense, the Flames were unable to tally the equalizer, dropping the match by a 1-0 final score.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Friday night was the fourth time this season the Flames have allowed their opponents to score the first goal of the contest. UIC is now 0-4 in those matches in 2024.
- Despite the 1-0 final score, the Flames out-shot the Bruins 17-6 in the match, and 10-2 in the second half.
- Oren Asher (Hetzliya, Israel/Rutgers) made one save in his first match action since Sept. 6 against Oakland.

UIC will wrap up its non-conference schedule next Tuesday when they travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
