Men’s Soccer Grounds Falcons in Saturday Showdown

Flames Use Multi-Goal Effort from Bart Muns to Defeat BGSU

CHICAGO (Oct. 5, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (6-4, 2-1 MVC) welcomed Bowling Green (8-2-1, 3-1 MVC) to Flames Field for the first time in series history Saturday, as the two met for a Missouri Valley Conference clash under the lights in Chicago.

The Flames struck early for the second consecutive home match, as Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands) netted his fourth goal of the season in the 12th minute. UIC's defense held firm for the remainder of the first half, preserving the 1-0 advantage heading into the break. Muns further solidified his impact by scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the season, which would ultimately stand as the match-winner. Despite the Falcons cutting the lead in half with a penalty kick in the second half, a resilient UIC defense and standout goalkeeping from Kevin Dabrowski (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) secured a 2-1 victory for the Flames.
