Women’s Basketball Falls Short in Home Opener Against Cincinnati

The Flames aim to bounce in Nov. 13 match-up against Green Bay at Credit Union 1 Arena.

CHICAGO (Nov. 5, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball team (0-1) couldn't spark any offensive momentum in its home opener Tuesday night against Cincinnati (1-0), falling short 66-54.

Graduate student Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) led all Flames scorers with 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists. Junior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) and senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) each netted nine points apiece. Graduate student Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) led the game in rebounds with a dozen.

 Coach's Comment
"That's a good program with an incredible coach, but with our experience, I felt like we had a chance at home against them." said head coach Ashleen Bracey "I thought we played hard, and our approach was good. We are just sort of missing something right now, so I am just in the mode of trying to figure out my team."
