CHICAGO (Nov. 7, 2024) – The UIC swimming and diving program is back in the pool to face off against Davenport at Flames Natatorium on Friday. The Flames are coming off a successful home opener where they defeated Milwaukee.

LAST TIME AGAINST DAVENPORT
- The Flames hosted the Panthers last season at Flames Natatorium. The men's (211-84) and women's (199-97) teams won in dominant fashion.
- The meet was headlined by the Flames diving teams with the men sweeping both the one-meter and three-meter events, while the women swept the one-meter event. Junior Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Kentucky) won the one-meter (334.88 points) and three-meter (355.50 points) for the men, while junior Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St. Mary's School) won the one-meter for the women (256.05 points).
- In the pool on the men's side, the Flames swept the 100 backstroke with senior Luke Wiesner (Chicago, Ill./West Chicago Community) winning the event (51.30), senior Cory Michalek (Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine) finishing in second (51.51) and sophomore James McCarthy (Minnetonka, Minn./DeLaSalle) placing third (52.12).
- For the women, junior Madison Helmick (Bingham Farms, Mich./Birmingham Groves) won three events starting with the 1000 freestyle in a career-best time of 10:12.88. She also won the 50 freestyle in 23.88 seconds. Her third individual win of the night came in the 500 freestyle, which she won with a finish of 5:00.42.
DUAL MEET RECAP – MILWAUKEE
Swimming
- Graduate Student Rafe Dolan Peterson (Austin, Minn./ Austin/ Green Bay) won the 100 freestyle (45.94) and contributed to the winning men's 200 medley relay team (1:31.42). Peterson also placed second in the 100 butterfly (50.36).
- Sophomore Molly Kroeger (Easton, Md./ Easton) won the 500 freestyle (5:04.23) and the 1000 freestyle (10:21.68).
- Freshman Samantha Wilson (Richmond, New Zealand/Waimea College) remained dominant between the lane lines, winning the 100 butterfly (55.36), 200 butterfly (2:03.37) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.10). She also contributed to the winning women's 200 medley relay (1:44.64).
- Going the distance once again was sophomore Jack Mills (Toronto, Ontario/ Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute) with wins in the 500 (4:37.22) and 1,000 freestyle (9:29.80).
Diving
- Nolan broke the one-meter diving record at the Flames Natatorium pool previously set by UIC alum Felix LaFortune (350.05 points) with a score of 379.20 points. The junior also won the three-meter event (381.15).
- Morrison swept the diving competitions for the women with scores of 254.33 points in the one-meter and 265.13 points in the three-meter events.
