CHICAGO (Dec. 19, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball team (2-6) went toe-to-toe against one of the nation's best programs, falling to No. 5 LSU (14-0) 91-73 in front of a record-breaking crowd at Credit Union 1 Arena Thursday night.
Credit Union 1 Arena had over 4,322 fans in attendance for the game, shattering a 19-year-old record of the largest standalone women's basketball crowd in program history. The last largest crowd at a UIC women's basketball game was 2,920 on Feb. 9, 2005, against Butler.
Senior
Arin Freeman (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock North/Central Carolina) scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and collected four rebounds. Senior
Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) netted 15 points in 22 minutes of play. Senior
Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) landed four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.

COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH ASHLEEN BRACEY
"I'm proud of my team, I mean you obviously you play the game to win it, but at the end of the day we don't always control those outcomes, and I thought they did what I needed them to do, what we needed them to do. They came out and they battled, they played hard for 40 minutes. They played fearless, and I didn't think they looked tentative against top 20 recruits of the country, and I think they really enjoyed themselves along the way."

- The Flames sank 11 three-pointers, shooting 45% (11-for-24) from beyond the arc. That ties a game-high under head coach Ashleen Bracey, tying earlier this year at home against Green Bay on Nov. 13 and in a 63-55 win over Davidson on Nov. 22, 2022.
- 19 points and six rebounds is a new season-high for Freeman. She has collected double figures in the past four games for the Flames. Also with a new career-high is freshman Chantrel, "TuTu," Clayton (St. Louis, Mo./Vashon) with 11-points in her 14 minutes of play.
- After her 15-point performance, Williams collects her fifth double-digit game of the season. She leads the Flames in scoring, 13.3 points per game.
