CHICAGO (Dec. 28, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball team (3-6, 0-0 MVC) opens up Missouri Valley Conference in a Sunday matinee match-up against Missouri State (8-3, 0-0 MVC) in a 3 p.m. (CT) first tip at Credit Union 1 Arena.

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
- This will be the fifth time the Flames and Bears will meet on the hardwood. Although the Bears hold a 3-1 overall series lead, the Flames won in the last meeting, 65-61 at home on Mar. 7, 2024.
- In the victory at home, the Flames were led by senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) in scoring with 19 points. Graduate students Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) netted 14 points and Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) scored 10 points, while grabbing nine rebounds.
- The Bears went 8-3 in non-conference play, having won all four contests (Wyoming, Little Rock, SEMO and Southern Miss) in the month of December.
- Missouri State is ranked second on the defensive side of the ball, holding its opponents to 64.9 points per game.
- Lacy Stokes plays a pivotal role in Missouri State's offense, leading the team in points (11.8) and assists (4.2) per game.
LAST TIME OUT – VS. OHIO
- The Flames closed out non-conference play with a 46-point victory over Ohio (2-7, 0-0 MAC) in front of a home crowd on Dec. 22, 91-45.
- UIC's winning margin was the largest winning margin dating back to the Flames 104-49 victory over Chicago State on Nov. 29, 1993.
- Senior Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 19 minutes of play in the win. McCloud and senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/ Wisconsin) each netted 13 points.
- Out of the 30 Ohio turnovers, 16 of those turnovers came off of steals. Middleton led the team with four steals in the game.
