FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames enter play on the weekend winners of two of their last three games, including a mid-week victory over North Park at Curtis Granderson Stadium. UIC is 0-1 in true road games this season, dropping a lopsided affair against Lamar in San Antonio, Texas on Feb. 23.
  • UIC ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference in team batting average at .329, a number that ranks 33rd nationally among 249 programs. The Flames' four early-season triples also ranks them 17th in the country and first in the MVC.
  • Jackson Bessette (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) continues to lead the way for the UIC offense, as he ranks first in the Missouri Valley Conference in batting average (.467), as well as hits per game (2.00).
  • UIC will look for improvements on the mound this weekend, as the Flames have yet to hold an opponent to three or fewer runs in a game this season. The Flames are 2-2 when scoring first this season, and also 2-2 when allowing their opponents to cross the plate first.

SCOUTING OHIO
  • The Bobacats and Flames have met eight previous times in program history, with Ohio holding a decided 7-1 advantage all-time.
  • Ohio enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall record early in the season, most recently being swept in a three-game series at Campbell after taking two out of three from Lipscomb in Nashville.
  • Gideon Antle leads the charge for the Bobcats offense, as he ranks 10th in the NCAA in batting average (.571)
  • Pitching has been a struggle for Ohio, as the Bobcats rank 215th nationally in earned run average (7.64) as a staff.

UP NEXT
