NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 23, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (14-7, 1-1 MVC) continued its three-game series against Belmont (12-11, 1-1 MVC) on Saturday afternoon, as the Flames and Bruins did battle on a sunny, 58-degree day in Nashville. Despite scoring the game's first run for the 12
th time this season, UIC was unable to come back after surrendering the lead in the fifth inning, falling by a final score of 4-3.

GAME SUMMARY
- For the second straight game, the Flames jumped out to an early lead Saturday afternoon, as Pambos Nicoloudes (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) continued his hot hitting as of late, bringing home the game's first two runs on a triple that got past a diving Bruins center fielder all the way to the outfield wall. Nicoloudes was brought home by the next batter James Harris' (Chicago, Ill./Gwendolyn Brooks) team-leading 25th RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly to give UIC a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

- The Bruins answered with two runs in the fourth and another pair of runs in the fifth to take their first lead of the game at 4-3.
- Starting pitcher Brandon Bak (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was stellar for the Flames in his sixth start of the year, giving UIC six and 2/3 solid innings, striking out seven and scattering eight hits and four runs.

- For just the fourth time this season when scoring first, the Flames were unable to claw their way back into the game, dropping the second game of the series by a final score of 4-3.

The Bruins and Flames will conclude their three-game series in Nashville on Sunday afternoon, as the two are set for a 1 p.m. first pitch in the rubber match from E.S. Rose Park. The game will not be video streamed but can be heard free of charge on the Flames Network with AJ Schraffenberger calling all of the action.
