TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (March 31, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (16-10, 2-4 MVC) closed out its series against Indiana State (21-5, 5-1 MVC) Sunday, as the Flames looked to salvage a win in the three-game set. Despite a strong start from
Kendall Lyons (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), the Flames were unable to keep pace with the Sycamores offense, falling in the series finale by a final score of 4-1.

GAME SUMMARY
- The Sycamores jumped out to an early lead in Sunday's finale, with two solo home runs in the bottom of the second and third innings respectively, taking a 2-0 lead early on.
- UIC tied the game in the top of the fourth inning, as Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) singled home AJ Henkle (Huntley, Ill./McHenry County College) to bring the score to 2-1.
- Mike Sears brought home two in the sixth with a two-run home run, putting Indiana State ahead 4-1.
- Lyons was strong in his seventh start of the season, scattering eight hits and four earned runs in six complete innings.
- The Flames managed just three hits in the game and would fall by a final score of 4-1.

The Flames remain on the road for a mid-week game at nearby Northern Illinois Wednesday afternoon, before returning home to Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium for a weekend three-game series against Southern Illinois.
