GAME SUMMARY
  • The Flames got off to a hot start Thursday morning, as Ryan Nagelbach (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) launched his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to give UIC the 2-0 lead.

  • On a windy day in Springfield, Missouri State answered back in the bottom of the second inning, scoring seven runs thanks to three two-run home runs, taking a 7-2 lead.
  • Thanks to Kendal Ewell's (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) team-leading seventh home run of the season, the Flames narrowed the gap in the top of the fourth inning, drawing within four at 7-3.

  • The Bears wasted no time answering back, putting up another crooked number in the home half of the fourth, building an 11-3 lead with two more two-run home runs. Missouri State took control of the game for good in the bottom of the fifth, plating six more runs on the way to a 17-3 victory by run rule in seven innings.

The Flames and Bears will continue the three-game series tomorrow morning in Springfield, as the two sides will meet for the second of three 11 a.m. first pitches this weekend. The game can be seen live on ESPN+, and live stats are available.
