CHICAGO (April 11, 2024) – The UIC softball team (14-25, 7-7 MVC) returns to Flames Field this weekend to host MVC foe Indiana State (15-20, 4-7 MVC) in a weekend series.
The entire series will be streamed on ESPN+ and available to listen to for free on the Flames Network. Live stats will be available on

Friday's game will be UIC's Vs. Cancer game, as the program raises money for the fight against pediatric brain cancer. The Flames will be taking
donations throughout the weekend series. Saturday's game will be Youth Sports Day, where the first 200 kids will get a free softball stress ball and can get autographs from the team postgame. The series finale on Sunday will be the Cubs RBI Day and the second Bark at the Park at Flames Field. Fans who bring their dogs to the park will receive a pet bandanna and a dog treat for their pets to enjoy.

SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
- The Sycamores hold a 7-4 lead in the overall series. UIC aims to get its first victory against Indiana State since 2016.
- Indiana State secured its first MVC series win, taking two out of three games against Murray State last weekend. The Sycamores also collected wins against Evansville and Bradley earlier in conference play.
- Senior Abi Chipps is tied for fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference in runs scored with 25, and is currently has a team-leading .350 batting average.
- Senior Kennedy Shade leads the team in RBI (25), is second on the team in batting average (.343) and has tallied 35 hits this season.
- Junior Hailey Griffin has posted a team-best 2.92 ERA in 17 appearances in the circle, striking out 57 baters in 76.2 innings of work.
LAST TIME OUT: VALPARAISO
- The Flames collected their third consecutive MVC series win after taking both games against Valparaiso in a two-game midweek series at the Valpo Softball Complex in Valparaiso, Ind.
- Graduate student Carlee Jo Clark (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Francis/Southern Illinois) held a no-hitter going into the eighth inning Tuesday en route to a complete game victory in the circle. She struck out four batters, allowed four hits and walked two batters. In the batter's box, Clark batted .333 with three hits and an RBI.
- Senior Miranda Gomez (Pico Rivera, Calif./Bishop Amat) pitched her first complete game of the season Wednesday in the Flames' 4-1 victory. She allowed four hits in her seven innings of work, striking out five batters.
- After a 1-4 performance in the batter's box, junior Hailey Cowing (Torrance, Calif./West Torrance) went 2-for-3 in UIC's win Wednesday, tallying two doubles and two RBI.
