CHICAGO (April 20, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (22-12, 7-6 MVC) continued its three-game series against Murray State (23-14, 7-6 MVC) Saturday, as the Flames welcomed the Racers back to Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium, looking to even the series.

GAME SUMMARY
- UIC jumped out to an early advantage in game two of the series Saturday, as Flames right fielder Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) launched his team-leading 10th home run of the season, a solo shot to give his team the 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first.

- After the Racers answered with a run in the top of the second, Missouri Valley Conference batting average leader Zane Zielinski (Chicago, Ill./Northeast CC) continued his hot hitting as of late, giving the Flames back the lead with an RBI double down the left field line.

- Ewell launched his second home run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, a three-run shot to give UIC a 5-2 lead.

- UIC got two more home runs in the game, solo shots from Jackson Bessette (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and Zielinski in the sixth and seventh respectively to extend the lead to 7-3.

- A pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the eighth were more than enough insurance, as the Flames went on to win by a final score of 9-3.
