SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
  • This will be the first meeting between the Flames and the Fighting Irish since Feb. 19, 2011 (a 4-1 Notre Dame victory at the UCF Invitational in Orlando). The programs have been scheduled to compete the past two seasons, but ultimately both games were canceled due to inclement weather.
  • Notre Dame holds a 19-9 overall series lead. The Flames last collected a win against the Fighting Irish on May 22, 2004, winning 2-1 in an elimination game at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich. UIC last visited South Bend earlier that same season (April 15, 2004), earning a 4-3 victory in 10 innings at Notre Dame's former home, Ivy Field.
  • Notre Dame has eight wins in ACC play this season, with series wins against NC State and Georgia Tech. Last weekend, the Fighting Irish finished their home series against No. 22 Clemson with a 6-5 walk-off victory, courtesy of a game-winning hit off the bat of senior Karina Gaskins.
  • Senior Carlli Kross is among one of the top hitters in the ACC, batting .367 with 55 hits, nine doubles and 21 RBI.
  • After three seasons competing at Princeton, graduate student Alexis Laudenslager has become a fixture in the circle in her first season at Notre Dame. She leads the team in innings pitched (114.1), strikeouts (123) and opponent batting average (.273).

LAST TIME OUT: UNI
  • The Flames battled it out at UNI last weekend, but ultimately dropped all three games to the Panthers (24-15, 12-5) at the Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
  • Graduate student Carlee Jo Clark (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Francis/Southern Illinois) pitched in relief in back-to-back appearances, followed by a complete game on Sunday. She threw 10.2 innings, striking out eight while holding UNI to a .162 batting average. Clark also led the team in batting average (.455), tallying five hits last weekend.
  • Redshirt freshman Jazmyn Casas (Berwyn, Ill./Taft) has a team-leading .429 batting average since being penciled in as the starting shortstop on April 10. She has tallied nine hits and six RBI over that seven-game stretch.
  • Freshman Cameran Rios (Effingham, Ill./St. Anthony) continues to find a way to get on base, reaching in 10 of the past 11 games.
