CHICAGO (April 28, 2024) – In search of its sixth straight win, the UIC baseball team (27-13, 11-7 MVC) hosted Valparaiso (12-2, 4-13 MVC) Sunday afternoon at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium. The Flames, looking to complete the series sweep of the Beacons, fell victim to the long ball in the series finale, losing the closing game of the weekend 20-0 in seven innings.

GAME SUMMARY
- For the third time in as many games in the series, the Flames fell behind first in Sunday's contest, surrendering a three-spot in the first inning thanks in part to a two-run home run from Brady Renfro.
- On a day with wind gusts over 20 miles an hour at Granderson Stadium, the Beacons used the long ball to run away with the game early, belting seven home runs in the first four innings to take an 18-0 lead.
- The Flames managed just two hits on the afternoon, including a first inning single from Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) who reached base for the 40th straight game, each of the Flames' 40 games this season.
- The Beacons scored two more runs in the contest, running the final score to 20-0.

The Flames will be back in action on Tuesday, as they welcome Northwestern to the South Loop for the final matchup against the Wildcats this season. First pitch in the final game of the eight-game home-stand is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be heard live on the Flames Network.
