CHICAGO (April 30, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (28-13, 11-7 MVC) closed out its season-long eight-game home-stand on Tuesday, as the Flames played host to Northwestern (13-27, 2-13 B1G). Looking to sweep the season series over the Wildcats, the Flames jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back, earning a 3-2 win while holding Northwestern to just three hits.

GAME SUMMARY
- Right fielder Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) got the Flames started in the bottom of the first inning, as his RBI double brought home Zane Zielinski (Chicago, Ill./Northeast CC) as the game's first run.
- Neither team would score again until the fifth inning, when Pambos Nicoloudes (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) came around to score on a Wildcats balk, giving the Flames a 2-0 lead.
- Jackson Fisher (Chariton, Iowa/Des Moines Area CC) added another run to the Flames' lead in the sixth, as his RBI single brought home Ewell to extend the UIC advantage to 3-0.
- The Wildcats answered with a run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to right field, drawing closer at 3-1. They would draw another run closer in the top of the eighth, as their second solo home run in as many innings pulled Northwestern within one at 3-2.
- Reece Lawler shut the door for the Flames, earning his ninth save of the year in a 3-2 win for UIC.

The Flames will head out on the road for a three-game series at Bradley over the weekend, beginning Friday night in Peoria. Friday and Saturday's games can be seen live on ESPN+, with Sunday's game being broadcast live on the Flames Network.
