GAME ONE
- The Salukis jumped out to an early lead in the double-header opener Saturday, as Southern Illinois scored the game's opening run in the top of the second inning on a wild pitch.
- The Flames answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning, as some heads-up baserunning from James Harris (Chicago, Ill./Gwendolyn Brooks) on an AJ Taylor (Downers Grove, Ill./College of DuPage) sacrifice bunt allowed UIC to tie the game 1-1, as Harris came in to score all the way from second base.
- UIC would take the lead an inning later, as a Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) RBI double down the left field line gave the Flames a 2-1 advantage.
- Prior to his exit after six innings pitched, Brandon Bak (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) allowed the tying run on a solo home run to Jake Allgeyer, but had yet another strong outing for the Flames, allowing just two runs and striking out six.
- The score would remain 2-2 for the remainder of regulation, as the Flames went to their fifth extra innings of the season. Ewell provided the spark and the game-winning hit, as his RBI single gave UIC the victory and secured the series win, with a 3-2 final score.

- Taylor dropped down another great bunt in the bottom of the sixth in a safety squeeze situation, giving UIC the 2-1 lead.
