Colorado Springs, CO (April 8, 2024) – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce
Paul Brauckmann and
Carson Roberts as 2024 All-American Athlete Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award recipients. This award recognizes both athlete's athletic accomplishments and their dedication to strength and conditioning. Nominated by UIC Head Sports Performance Coach

Brauckmann and
Roberts' determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence is a great model for all student-athletes at UIC.
"It is great to see Paul recognized for his consistent efforts towards his academic and athletic growth," said men's soccer head coach
Sean Phillips. "We pride ourselves as a program on both our academic and athletic success, and Paul has been a great representation of that in his first two years."

Paul Brauckmann followed up a freshman campaign in which he was named to 2022 Missouri Valley All-Freshman Team and Missouri Valley All-Tournament Team by leading the Flames in minutes played in 2023 (1,704). Along with anchoring the back line of defense for the Flames, the Welver, Germany native also contributed offensively for UIC this year, tallying two goals, both match-winners. His highlight reel match-winning free kick goal against Loyola on Sept. 8 was enough to land him on College Soccer News' Men's National Team of the Week on Sept. 12.

In the classroom,
Brauckmann boasts a 3.89 grade point average, and is currently studying for a career in the field of psychology.
"Carson is committed to being great in all aspects of his development," said baseball head coach
Sean McDermott. "He takes great pride in his time in the strength room, recovery and diet. We are all Fired Up for Carson!"
Carson Roberts is currently in his second and final season at UIC, after appearing in 51 games for the Flames in 2023. In his junior year,
Roberts drove in 44 runs, and had 11 extra-base hits, including three home runs. He is currently majoring in business administraion at UIC.
