Baseball Looks to Remain Perfect Against Big Ten Tuesday

5/6/2024 9:36:00 PM

CHICAGO (May 6, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (31-13, 14-7 MVC) returns home this week, as it rounds out the home non-conference schedule with a Tuesday night contest against Purdue (31-17, 12-6 B1G) at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames enter the week as winners of their last four games, including a weekend sweep over Bradley. After an exciting series opening victory on Friday night, the Flames captured control of the series, including a convincing 18-4 win on Saturday afternoon that allowed UIC to move into a tie for second place in the Missouri Valley Conference.
  • UIC's 17 triples are tied for the 20th-most by a team in NCAA Division I this season. The Flames are the only team in the league to sit in double figures in the category. AJ Henkle and Zane Zielinski lead the Valley with four apiece.
  • Kendal Ewell continues to solidify himself as a candidate for Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, going 10 for 16 in four games last week, including a five for five effort with three home runs, two doubles and seven RBI Saturday against Bradley.

Tuesday night's game is slated for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch, and can be seen live on ESPN+. The game will also be audio streamed on the Flames Network, and the Granderson Stadium Club will be open to the public for the final time in the 2024 season.
