CHICAGO (Aug. 21, 2024) – The UIC women's soccer team returns home on Thursday to face Eastern Michigan. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Flames Field, with live stats and streaming available for fans unable to attend.
LAST TIME OUT
UIC opened its season with a 2-0 shutout against Chicago State at home on Aug. 15. Junior
Sophia Jaime (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) got the Flames on the board within the first 20 minutes of the match, followed by a goal from junior
Chopper Carriere (Austin, Tex./Vandegrift). The Flames didn't score in the second half, but their defense held strong, keeping the Cougars off the board to secure the win. Carriere's goal marked the first of her collegiate career, assisted by juniors
Makenna Maloy (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and
Hannah Gryzik (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove).
SCOUTING EASTERN MICHIGAN
Eastern Michigan also kicked off its 2024 season with a 1-0 record. After competing in two exhibitions against Michigan and Detroit Mercy, EMU faced Oakland in its first official match, securing a 1-0 win behind a goal from sophomore Cameryn Susey.
