CHICAGO (Sept. 12, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (3-3-0, 0-0-0 MVC) returned home to Flames Field Thursday, as it welcomed Loyola (1-3-1, 0-0-0 A-10) across town for a match-up under the lights.
UIC got on the board quickly, as the Flames scored the match's first goal for the fourth time this season.
Rui Reis (Lisbon, Portugal) flicked a header from a set piece on net, and
Juan Gutierrez (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) followed the shot and drove home the rebound to give UIC the 1-0 advantage in the 16
th minute. The Flames would double their advantage in the second half, as again a
Reis shot led to a rebound, this time powered home by
Carlos Nevarez (Summit, Ill./Argo) to secure the 2-0 victory for UIC.
