Men’s Soccer Wins Third Straight, Dominates Marquette

Flames Use Two First Half Goals to Down Big East Foe

CHICAGO (Sept. 15, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (4-3-0, 0-0-0 MVC) continued its three-match home stand Sunday night, as the Flames welcomed Marquette (4-3-1, 0-0-0 Big East) to Flames Field for their final non-conference home match of the 2024 season.

The Flames controlled the possession for much of the contest, including in the first 20 minutes, as Rui Reis (Lisbon, Portugal) added to his team lead in points (10) by netting his third goal of the year in the 21st minute. UIC doubled its lead right before the halftime whistle, as Darrell Turcios (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) tallied his first goal of the campaign in the 44th minute. The second half was also dominated by the Flames, as they out-shot the Golden Eagles by 12 in the period, cruising to the 2-0 victory.
