Women’s Soccer Loses Match Against Kansas City Thursday

Flames Fall 1-0 to the Roos at Flames Field

CHICAGO (Sept. 12, 2024) – The UIC women's soccer team (1-7-0, 0-0-0 MVC) dropped its Thursday evening home match against Kansas City (4-0-3, 0-0-0 SL). The Roos gained an early advantage over the Flames, scoring in the second minute of play.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"We started slowly, which put us in a position where we had to chase the game," said head coach David Nikolic. "We're still working on finding our attacking balance. Now, it's time to look ahead to the challenges the MVC games will bring. I know this group has potential, and we will find a way to get it done."

HIGHLIGHTS

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Fifth-year goalkeeper Francesca Faraci (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South/University of Florida) started in goal and played most of the match, until Lauren Keiser (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./South Walton) stepped in for the final 15 minutes.
UP NEXT
UIC will kick off Missouri Valley Conference play against Northern Iowa next Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Flames Field. The first 400 fans in attendance will receive a UIC soccer scarf.
